Mr Richard Pennington is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in upper limb conditions from the shoulder to the hand, as well as general Orthopaedic conditions and trauma.
Richard obtained his medical degree from the Imperial College School of Medicine in London. His Orthopaedic training was initially undertaken on the prestigious Guy’s and St Thomas’ Orthopaedic training program which gained him Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons.
Richard has completed subspecialty fellowship training in Denver (USA), Melbourne and Sydney. These fellowships included shoulder, elbow and upper limb surgery, and sports reconstructive and trauma surgery. He also undertook a trauma fellowship at Nepean Hospital in Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Australian Orthopaedic Association, and a member of the Victorian Shoulder and Elbow Society.
Richard holds public appointments at Northern Health and Eastern Health. He performs trauma and elective surgery, and is actively involved in training Orthopaedic Registrars and teaching medical students.
Richard strongly believes that all treatment, both operative and non-operative, should be focused on evidence-based medicine. He works closely and collaboratively with allied health professionals to optimise patient outcomes from initial consultation to full recovery.
